Predictive Logic Analysis

The renewal itself was confirmed by Paramount+ on September 16, 2025, reported by Variety, TVLine, and multiple other outlets simultaneously. That announcement came before Season 3 had aired a single episode, which signals strong institutional confidence from the network. Terence Winter, the original showrunner, was announced as returning for Season 4, adding further credibility to the commitment. By late November, casting news (Gretchen Mol joining as a series regular) confirmed production was actively moving.

The behind-the-scenes situation is worth noting. Deadline and Variety both reported in late October and November 2025 that 26 crew members, including Stallone's stunt double, were abruptly replaced before the Season 4 shoot, and a CinemaBlend piece cited a crew member who said no one was effectively in charge of the production. These are real production concerns, not just noise. Taylor Sheridan's reported departure to NBCUniversal also adds some creative uncertainty. None of this changes the renewal status, but it does introduce some risk around whether Season 4 arrives on schedule and at the quality level audiences expect.

Season 3's episode ratings averaged 8.4 on IMDb, up from 7.8 the prior season, which is a healthy sign for audience engagement. The overall IMDb rating of 7.9 across 114,000+ votes is solid for a streamer crime drama. Search interest and Wikipedia pageviews are both falling, which is fairly normal in the weeks following a season finale, and the Trakt active watcher count of over 121,000 with steady momentum suggests a stable, loyal audience. The spinoff "Frisco King" (formerly NOLA King) being actively developed further shows Paramount sees the franchise as a long-term property worth expanding.

What is Tulsa King about?

Sylvester Stallone plays a New York mob capo who gets released from prison after 25 years and immediately shipped off to Tulsa, Oklahoma, which is about as far from his world as the show's creators could manage. The fish-out-of-water premise is exactly as simple as it sounds, and Taylor Sheridan, who has built something close to a small empire on Paramount+ with shows rooted in American geography and masculine codes, leans into that simplicity rather than complicating it. Stallone's Dwight Manfredi is old-school in every sense, a man who still expects loyalty to mean something, dropped into a city that has no idea what to do with him and vice versa.

What the show does well is give Stallone room to be funny without asking him to be a comedian. His timing is dry, his presence still carries real weight, and the writers seem to understand that the best version of this show is one where Dwight is genuinely out of his depth without being made to look foolish. The supporting cast keeps things lively. Martin Starr's pot-dispensary manager and Jay Will's eager young associate give Dwight's makeshift Oklahoma crew an odd warmth. The tone is lighter than most Sheridan projects, less interested in operatic tragedy than in low-stakes charm with occasional eruptions of violence.

Critics received it reasonably well, treating it as comfortable genre entertainment that overdelivers slightly by virtue of its star. Audiences agreed in enough numbers to keep it running. The IMDb rating sits solidly in the upper-sevens, which accurately captures where the show lands: genuinely enjoyable without being remarkable.

The comparisons to other late-career star vehicles are obvious and not unfair, but what keeps Tulsa King from feeling purely cynical is that Stallone clearly likes this character. There is something relaxed in his performance across the seasons, a sense that he is not straining for prestige but just playing a man he finds interesting. That ease is the show's real selling point.

Tulsa King Season 4 Release Date

Season 4 was already in production as of late 2025, with crew replacements and casting news placing the shoot in the October-November 2025 window. If production proceeded relatively smoothly from there, a reasonable estimate for a 10-episode season would put post-production into mid-2026. Based on the Season 3 pattern (renewed well in advance, premiered September 2025), a fall 2026 premiere window on Paramount+ is plausible, though the production leadership instability could push that into late 2026 or early 2027.

No official release date has been announced as of the available data. Given the unresolved showrunner situation reported by Variety, there is genuine uncertainty about whether Paramount+ will hold to a consistent annual release cadence or whether Season 4 slips. A confirmed date announcement would be the clearest signal to watch for.
