What is Snowfall about?

Snowfall is a show about how crack cocaine came to Los Angeles, told through the intersecting lives of a young dealer, a CIA operative, and a Mexican wrestler turned trafficker. That premise could easily become exploitative, but the show mostly earns its ambitions. At the center is Franklin Saint, played by Damson Idris, who starts the series as a sharp, charming kid from Inglewood and ends it as something considerably darker. The show was slow to find its audience on FX but built a devoted following, particularly among Black viewers who felt its portrait of that era and that community was something American television rarely attempted with this much care. Critical reception was respectful from the start and grew warmer as the show matured.
