Critics largely admired it, and audience scores on IMDb reflect genuine affection rather than just polite appreciation. It found its audience early and kept it, the kind of quiet success streaming platforms rarely trumpet but clearly value.

Amazon greenlit a spinoff, Bosch: Legacy, which moved to their Freevee platform and continued the story with Welliver and much of the supporting cast. That decision tells you something about how the original series concluded: it wasn't cancelled because the character had worn out his welcome or because ratings were collapsing. It ended because the flagship version of the show had run its course, and the network found a way to keep the franchise going in a lower-cost environment.
