She treats the gadgets (the lasso, the invisible plane, those indestructible bracelets) as tools, not jokes. Lyle Waggoner is a game co-star in the 1940s arc, though the show's focus narrows considerably once it shifts to the '70s and Steve Trevor fades into the background. The action sequences are straightforward Saturday morning television: quick, colorful, forgettable within minutes of airing.

Critics didn't take it seriously, which was probably inevitable for a superhero show in that era. But audiences kept watching, and the show ran four years on CBS, which is respectable.
