The two of them end every episode drinking scotch on a balcony, and those scenes are the emotional center of the whole series in a way that sneaks up on you.

Critics generally found it entertaining if uneven, which is fair. The ensemble around Spader and Shatner is serviceable but rarely essential, and the show occasionally gets drunk on its own willingness to be outrageous. Still, both leads received Emmy recognition, and audience affection has held up well given the IMDb score more than fifteen years later.
