What is Anger Management about?

Sheen works with a rotating group of prison inmates and private clients, each episode letting him diagnose and defuse different flavors of rage. The supporting cast, particularly Shawnee Smith as his ex-wife and the therapy group regulars, provide steady comic support.

The problem is that the show never quite figures out what it wants to be. It swings between broad sitcom mechanics and something closer to character comedy, and both registers feel slightly off. When it leans into absurdist situations, the humor lands inconsistently. When it tries for real insight about anger and relationships, it pulls back too quickly.
