What is Resident Alien about?

Alan Tudyk plays an alien wearing a dead doctor's face in a small Colorado mountain town, and the show lives or dies on whether you find that premise charming or exhausting. Most viewers find it charming. Tudyk's Harry Vanderspeigle is deadpan, baffled by basic human behavior, and occasionally murderous in intent, and the performance threads a needle between creature-feature creepiness and something closer to a sad comedy about loneliness.
