If you want a show that treats intelligence as a superpower and lets its lead character actually be clever, this delivers. It also gives you the pulp satisfaction of a conspiracy that keeps widening, with Bradley Cooper reprising his film role as the shadowy figure lurking behind everything.

The tonal mix is what defines the show. It plays crime scenes and FBI bureaucracy straight enough to function as actual drama. Brian's narration and the visual gags that accompany his heightened mental state push toward comedy. It is genuinely funny sometimes, in particular when it plays the gap between Brian's ambitions and his actual competence before the pills.
