The premise is thin on purpose: a post-collapse world carved up by feudal lords, samurai codes transplanted to American wastelands. It works because the show never pretends this is realistic. The series has a distinctive visual language. Director work is crisp and deliberate, fights are shot wide enough that you can follow the choreography, and the whole thing moves with the deliberate pacing of something more interested in mood than plot efficiency.
