What is Berlin about?

The IMDb score sits at a respectable 7, which suggests fans of the original turned up and found enough to enjoy, but reviewers noted the show's tendency to let Alonso's charisma carry weight that the writing sometimes does not earn. The new characters are fine without being especially memorable, which is a problem when Berlin himself is so deliberately larger than life that everyone around him risks becoming furniture.

It is worth noting that the show is a prequel, set during Berlin's "glory days," which means anyone who watched Money Heist already knows he does not get a redemption arc. That structural constraint gives the series a slightly airless quality.
