The show banks on you accepting this setup without wincing, then following Miles and his small circle of friends as they investigate who's really behind the account while helping people along the way. It's fundamentally a feel-good procedural wrapped in light mythology, aimed at people who want their drama with an earnest heartbeat and a laugh track conscience.

The tone is intentionally confused, which is either charming or exhausting depending on your patience. The show wants to be funny about atheism and faith without actually arguing anything. It wants to be touching without being heavy. It wants mystery and answers and also just nice stories about people improving their lives. When it works, there's something appealing about Miles' immediate family (his father is a pastor, his sister is skeptical, his friends are loyal) creating a little ecosystem where his journey matters to people who love him. When it doesn't work, the show spins its wheels explaining why a divine account on Facebook is cryptic rather than just, you know, talking to him.

Audiences and critics found it harmless but slight. The show landed solidly enough with CBS's core viewership to earn a second season, but never developed the cultural footprint its premise promised. It settled into being the kind of show people watched during dinner if nothing else was calling to them. The cast, particularly Brandon Micheal Hall in the lead, gave the material more gravity than it probably deserved.

The premise had enough novelty to draw viewers initially, but the episodic structure of helping one person per week grew repetitive, and the show never quite figured out whether it wanted to be a serialized mystery about the God account's true identity or a weekly feel-good dramedy about random acts of kindness.
