The critical response has been mixed but respectful. Audiences who invested in Filoni's animation work generally appreciate the care taken with the material. Others find the pacing glacial and complain that the plot takes too long to establish what is actually at stake. The show arrived in 2023 to solid viewership numbers for Disney Plus, though the conversation around it was never as intense as it was for earlier Star Wars shows. Part of that may be fatigue with the brand itself. Part of it may be that Ahsoka, despite being a capable piece of television, doesn't quite coalesce into something that feels urgent or necessary.

What distinguishes it most is how much of the narrative weight falls on actors standing still in dimly lit rooms, talking. The climactic revelations land because you've watched these performances accumulate across episodes. Ray Stevenson and Ivanna Sakhno, as the mysterious Baylan Skoll and his apprentice Shin Hati, carry enough intrigue to make you want to know what comes next. The show trusts that you care enough about these people to stay invested when the plot is essentially on pause.
