They don't want sentimentality, but they do want to care about the outcome.

Supernatural offers the longest runway of any of them, decades of brothers hunting demons and angels across America, a show that learned to balance monster-of-the-week fun with real apocalyptic dread. Foundation and The Wheel of Time both hinge on prophecy and the attempt to prevent or survive cosmic-scale collapse, though they're more serious and straightforward about the threat than Good Omens is. That show swings hard between horror and grotesque comedy, which makes it perhaps the trickiest fit, but if you loved Good Omens' willingness to mock religious authority and high stakes simultaneously, Preacher is worth the risk.
