He immediately makes a bucket list of one hundred things to do before he dies, and he sets about doing them while the world collapses. The show is genuinely funny about his mixed-up priorities, which means sometimes he's running from corpses and sometimes he's trying to find the perfect bowl of ramen. It knows this setup is absurd and leans into that wholeheartedly.

The tone shifts constantly, and that's what makes it work. One moment you're watching a gory action sequence with decent animation and real stakes; the next you're watching Akira try to have a normal conversation with his new friend Shizuka while zombies shamble past in the background like they're part of the scenery. The show doesn't try to balance comedy and horror evenly. It just lets comedy win most of the time, treating the zombie outbreak as the most convenient possible excuse for a man to finally live his life. There's something darkly appealing about that logic, even if the show doesn't always follow through on the implications.

Audiences enjoyed it enough to sustain twelve episodes, and the animation quality stays respectable throughout. The voice acting (at least in the original Japanese) captures the right balance between slapstick and sincerity.
