Predictive Logic Analysis
My Ex debuted on ZDFneo in late April 2026 and has now been off the air for four months with no renewal announcement. The show's Trakt metrics are thin: only 15 active watchers with steady momentum suggests an extremely small audience, not growth. German public broadcasters like ZDFneo do renew series, but they typically green-light second seasons within weeks or a few months of a strong first-season finale. Silence at the four-month mark is not a positive sign, though it is not yet a definitive kill either.
ZDFneo's renewal patterns tend toward quick decisions on original series, especially comedies that are not backed by significant international distribution or prestige. Without any trade coverage, fan buzz, or official statement from the network, the renewal outlook is dim. The show's TMDB status lists it as returning, but that may simply reflect a default classification that has not been updated to reflect cancellation. The very small active-watcher count and lack of any hype or renewal signal in the four months since air all point toward a show that did not gain traction with audiences or the network.
What is My Ex about?
My Ex is a German romantic comedy that follows an entertainer on a madcap quest to identify and reconnect with the person she's convinced is her soulmate. The series pairs Palina Rojinski's charismatic lead performance with sharp comedic timing and a premise rooted in the timeless rom-com appeal of mistaken identity and second chances. What draws viewers in is the central tension: the protagonist's absolute certainty that she knows who belongs in her life, even as circumstances, her own impulsivity, and a colorful supporting cast keep throwing obstacles between her and romantic clarity.
The show trades in the lighter, more playful sensibilities that have become increasingly appealing to European audiences seeking respite from grittier fare. Created by Sigal Avin, My Ex embraces the comedic potential of its setup without veering into melodrama, anchoring itself instead in character-driven humor and the genuine chemistry among its ensemble cast, including Helgi Schmid, Caro Cult, and Max Schimmelpfennig. The six-episode structure allows the narrative to move briskly while giving space for the romantic entanglements to breathe, and the entertainment-industry backdrop provides natural opportunities for visual flair and colorful set pieces.
Landing on ZDFneo, a network known for supporting contemporary German comedy with a lighter touch and international appeal, My Ex positions itself as accessible evening entertainment that doesn't require heavy emotional investment but rewards viewers who enjoy romantic mishaps and ensemble dynamics. The show's swift return for additional seasons suggests it connected with its intended audience, carving out space in the crowded rom-com landscape by offering a distinctly European perspective on love, reinvention, and the often comedic distance between what we think we want and what we actually need.

Is My Ex renewed or cancelled?
Working toward renewal
TMDB status is 'Returning Series', which may reflect default classification rather than confirmed renewal
Working against it
No renewal signal from ZDFneo or trade press four months after finale
Very low Trakt active-watcher count (15 watchers)
No critical coverage, hype, or fan advocacy since premiere
My Ex Season 2 Release Date
If My Ex were renewed, ZDFneo would likely have announced it by now given the four-month gap since the finale. German public broadcasters typically air decisions publicly and are transparent about series cancellations and renewals. The absence of any news at this stage suggests the network is not planning a second season. If an announcement were to come, it would most likely arrive in the next few weeks, but the window for a quiet greenlight has largely closed.

AI Verdict
My Ex is a 2026 German comedy with minimal audience traction and no renewal signal four months after its debut. ZDFneo has not announced a second season, and the show's low Trakt engagement and recent airdate make its renewal status genuinely uncertain. The absence of explicit cancellation news keeps the door slightly open, but the lack of any renewal announcement is a weak signal on a market-facing platform.
