Predictive Logic Analysis
Molang has been a mainstay of Canal+ since 2015, accumulating six seasons and 312 episodes over a decade. The show sits comfortably within Canal+'s animation portfolio, and French public broadcasters and pay-TV networks typically maintain long-running family properties if they generate consistent viewership and international licensing revenue. The fact that the show has not been cancelled in the 19 months since the last episode aired is itself a positive signal; a formal cancellation would likely have been announced by now. The rising Wikipedia pageview trend indicates the show retains an active audience, even if the absolute Trakt watcher count of 363 is modest by global streaming standards.
Animation production cycles are inherently long, particularly for shows aimed at younger viewers that involve multinational co-production and dubbing into multiple languages. A gap of 19 months is not extraordinary for this category. Canal+ has renewed Molang repeatedly across multiple seasons without dropping it despite the modest visibility in English-language media. The lack of explicit renewal coverage in trade publications is typical for a show at this tier, especially outside major English-language markets. Molang's longevity and the absence of cancellation news both point toward a renewal, though the silence on official confirmation introduces some uncertainty.
What is Molang about?
Molang is a deceptively simple show about friendship that has quietly become a global phenomenon. At its core, it follows an unlikely pair: Molang, an exuberant pink rabbit with boundless optimism, and Piu Piu, a timid yellow chick who sees potential disaster around every corner. What makes the show work is its fundamental understanding that the best friendships thrive on difference rather than similarity. Molang drags his cautious friend into adventures both grand and mundane—from moonbound expeditions to gardening projects—while Piu Piu's anxiety and Molang's infectious joy create a dynamic that feels genuinely symbiotic rather than one-sided. It's the kind of show that recognizes children don't need elaborate narratives; they need to see themselves and their friends reflected back with warmth and humor.
The show's visual language and tone set it apart in a crowded animation landscape. Created by Marie-Caroline Villand and anchored by the distinctive voice work of Bruno Gueraçague, Molang operates in a minimalist aesthetic that belies its emotional intelligence. The humor emerges organically from character and situation rather than relying on jokes delivered to camera, and the show's pacing allows moments to breathe. What distinguishes it most is how deftly it transforms everyday scenarios into opportunities for meaningful character interaction. A spilled drink or a misunderstanding about plans becomes fertile ground for exploring how friends navigate disappointment and miscommunication. The show trusts its audience to find comedy in the authentic fumbling of two beings trying to make each other happy.
Over six seasons and more than three hundred episodes, Molang has demonstrated remarkable staying power while maintaining creative consistency. The show has cultivated a devoted international audience that extends far beyond its target demographic, becoming a cultural touchstone in animation circles. Its appeal seems to rest on something almost universally resonant: the recognition that friendships built on acceptance of difference are both valuable and occasionally complicated. The extended run speaks to its enduring formula, which manages to feel fresh even as it maintains its established rhythms and priorities. That it continues to return suggests the world hasn't tired of spending time with these two unlikely friends navigating life's small and large surprises together.

Is Molang renewed or cancelled?
Working toward renewal
Six seasons and 312 episodes without cancellation announcement
Long-running status and track record within Canal+ animation slate
Rising Wikipedia pageview trend indicates sustained audience interest
Working against it
No explicit renewal signal from trade publications
19-month gap since last episode with no production confirmation
Modest Trakt active watcher count (363) relative to global animation benchmarks
Molang Season 6 Release Date
If season 7 is greenlit or has already entered production, the next release is likely 12 to 18 months away, given typical animation lead times. French broadcasters often announce renewals quietly and internally before making public statements, so the lack of a formal announcement does not necessarily mean production is stalled. Given that the show last aired in February 2025, a late 2025 or 2026 return would align with Canal+'s historical release patterns for this series. However, without confirmed production status or official renewal news, the exact timing remains unknowable.

Molang is a long-running French animated series on Canal+ with a solid track record of renewals across six seasons. The 19-month gap since the last episode is lengthy but not unusual for animation production timelines, and the rising Wikipedia pageview trend suggests sustained audience interest. Without explicit renewal news, the probability reflects the show's established success rather than certainty.
