Predictive Logic Analysis
The Property Brothers franchise has been a reliable performer for HGTV, but Forever Home's trajectory in recent years suggests the network may be moving on. Season 8 aired in spring 2023 and wrapped on May 17th. No renewal announcement followed in the typical renewal window (late summer or fall). Forty months of silence between the last aired episode and now is well beyond normal production lead time for an HGTV renovation show, especially one running eight seasons.
The available metrics do not argue for renewal. Trakt shows 1912 active watchers with steady momentum, which is modest rather than robust. Episode ratings for Season 8 average 6/10, matching the prior season but showing no growth trajectory. Wikipedia pageview interest is falling, suggesting declining audience engagement. Taken together, these point to a show that has plateaued or is losing momentum. HGTV tends to keep its marquee franchises in rotation (the original Property Brothers continues), but spin-offs and derivatives are subject to shorter shelf lives when viewership stabilizes or slips.
Without a formal cancellation announcement, the show's status remains technically unknown. However, the absence of renewal news after four years, combined with flat-to-declining engagement metrics, puts the odds well below a toss-up. If the show were still in development or slated to return, HGTV or the streaming platforms carrying it would have signaled that by now.
What is Property Brothers: Forever Home about?
Property Brothers: Forever Home distills the core appeal of home renovation television into its most emotionally resonant form: the promise that the right house, properly reimagined, can become the foundation of a life well-lived. Drew and Jonathan Scott position themselves as architects of not just renovations but of domestic futures, working with couples who have already committed to a place but need expert eyes to see what it could become. The show taps into a deeply American fantasy—that with good design, smart construction, and the right guidance, any house can transform into something beautiful enough to anchor decades of memories. It's less about flipping for profit and more about helping people stop searching and start building a life.
What distinguishes Forever Home from the Scott brothers' other ventures is its focus on permanence over transaction. While much of HGTV's catalog dwells in the thrill of the quick flip or the drama of the house hunt, this series inhabits the quieter, more intimate space where people decide "this is it." The brothers bring their signature easy chemistry and design sensibility to projects that feel genuinely grounded in the clients' lives and aspirations. The renovation process becomes a vehicle for exploring what home actually means—stability, family legacy, personal style finally realized—rather than just showcasing impressive before-and-afters.
Over its eight-season run, Property Brothers: Forever Home has maintained solid viewership as part of HGTV's reliable lineup of Scott-family programming. The show has found its audience among viewers who respond to the aspirational yet achievable aesthetic the brothers champion, and the emphasis on emotional stakes rather than shock value has given it a warmer reception than some of the network's more high-pressure offerings. It has become a steady performer in the home improvement genre, neither revolutionary nor controversial, but trusted and familiar.
In the crowded landscape of renovation television, Forever Home occupies a middle ground between pure design inspiration and relationship-focused reality. It lacks the dramatic tension of shows built around impossible timelines or feuding experts, and it doesn't compete with the cinematic ambitions of premium home content. Instead, it serves the dedicated home improvement audience that tunes in for practical ideas, warm human stories, and the satisfaction of seeing ordinary spaces become extraordinary—a formula that has proven durable enough to sustain eight seasons and counting.
Is Property Brothers: Forever Home renewed or cancelled?
Working against it
40 months since last episode aired with no renewal announcement
Flat episode ratings (6/10 for Season 8, matching Season 7)
Falling Wikipedia pageview trend
Modest Trakt active watchers (1912) with steady but not growing momentum
HGTV's track record of cancelling spin-offs while keeping core franchises
Property Brothers: Forever Home Season 9 Release Date
No release date has been announced. Given the 40-month gap since the last episode aired, a return in 2025 or beyond would require HGTV to officially confirm it imminently. The extended silence suggests the network has deprioritized the title in favor of other programming. If a ninth season were in the pipeline, production would likely have begun or concluded already, with promotional activity underway. The lack of any such signals makes an imminent return unlikely.

Property Brothers: Forever Home has not been officially renewed or cancelled, but the 40-month gap since the last episode aired in May 2023 is a strong negative signal. The show's steady but modest Trakt activity and flat episode ratings offer no counterweight to this extended silence. HGTV has not announced a return.
