The show had respectable production values and a committed cast led by Adrien Brody, but it faced an immediate problem: Epix itself was in the process of being absorbed into Paramount's larger streaming strategy. As the network underwent this transition, it was becoming clear that the platform's resources and focus were shifting toward building out Paramount+ as the centerpiece of ViacomCBS's streaming ambitions rather than maintaining a sprawling slate of original content across multiple smaller services.
